REVIEW:

The Stones stop in Atlanta in late November 1989 was documented in 1992 on Back in Business (Big 034-5 Kiss the Stone) an Italian release that saw Sympathy For The Devil, Gimme Shelter, Jumping Jack Flash missing, same as on 2009 Steel Wheels North American Tour 1989 (WLR 2126) ; lately though the complete concert has surfaced on a 2 cdr called Grant Field, Atlanta 1989 which used the Jems Archive. So another sound source capturing this Atlanta performance appeared, from JEMS who uploaded it. The sound quality is quite high, making listener feel to be there, in the sense that high frequencies stand out in this audience recording made at an outdoor venue with a cassette; it is presented here in this 4 discs release; although this is a new source by JEMS, the point is that the closeness of the taper position   constitutes a big appeal while the surrounding excitement can be heard all the time, the taper itself was also excited, the minus point being that the sound output at times swings. For example on Dead Flowers the song becomes a big chorus. In that respect, the sound source of Back in Business mentioned above in comparison is quite calm, the stress in listening is much lower than on the JEMS source. So in this release, on Disc-3 & 4, Back in Business source has been remastered and supplemented with JEMS source for the unrecorded songs, in order to have the complete show.
Of course the pitch has been adjusted, moreover, equalizing improved the sound quality that was slightly dark, and now this too is an excellent quality recording even for the 89 years tour! It seems now that there are more collectors who do not know Back in Business itself   and if you are a real fan, you will get it with the correct pitch too.
This way, on this limited silver release we can find a four-piece set with two sources for the Atlanta performance, both audience recordings are still very good as far as sound quality, but their recording state and sound quality are completely different, it is nice to listen and compare them thoroughly and each disc made full use of the characteristics of both sound sources.
