REVIEW:

Here is Volume 4 of the Stones Sidesteps project, presenting Alexis Korner Tribute held in Nottingham in early November 1984 that was broadcasted by Radio trend. This concert was released on bootleg as part of Led Zeppelin Strange Tales From The Road LP and CD box sets.

The line up consists of :. Charlie Watts on drums, Stu on piano, Ruby Turner on vocals, Paul Jones on harmonica and vocals, Jimmy Page on guitar, Jack Bruce on bass, John Picard on trombone, Willie Garnett, Dick Heckstall-Smith and Don Weller on sax.

There seem to exist 3 versions of this show two from private recordings and one from the Led Zeppelin 8 CD-box Strange Tales From The Road , this last one had the clearest sound, in stereo,  and here the tracks have been edited and upgraded the beginning/end by adding a fade in/out. Here Stu piano work is very audible on the left channel.
The 2 first seconds of the intro are coming from one version since it was missing on the other ones.
The balance of the left channel has been reworked: +50% to the right channel and amplified the sound (+7db). Because there was a cut after Big Boss Man it was decided to separate the 2 discs at that point. There are two more fade ins/outs between River s Invitation & Oh Lord,… and between Everyday I Have The Blues & Hoochie Coochie Man.
River s Invitation was cut in two parts and around 2 minutes in the middle were lost in the stereo version, so the gap was patched with a part from one version (this is why the sound is mono after 1’45 and restarts in stereo at 3’45).
At the end of one of the mp3 stereo versions appears a little comment from the radio presenter, so it was decided to add it as bonus.
