REVIEW:

This show came out first on a cassette which had a terrible recording where only the vocals did stand out, then it was released on a silver disc called How Come You Taste So Good (Sound Shelter 102) ; however another better sounding source was said to exist, but never found its way on silver, having been left on a cdr till now. Here comes this no label release that has however not a new source on, but a reworked version of what was released on How Come You Taste So Good. This is a great show, just two days before the famous Bruxelles concerts that have been the pinnacle o the Stones 73 live performances; after How Come You Taste So Good that came out in 1995 no other release came out from Antwerp. There were some problems there, including a fatal mistake with the pitch that was drastically low and more cuts in the recording occurred after Angie. In addition to this, although this was released in 1995, packaging was not that great, its paper cover was not made with high quality paper, but made of poor paper quality, therefore the disc was liable to be damaged and despite not being a rare item today, the frequency of its appearance on second hand market is quite low.
As Stones 70s live recordings are still very popular time among collectors all over the world, this Antwerp release presents a sound recording that itself is a bit distant but  Jagger s vocals are very clear and easy to hear, but the shortcomings present on How Come You Taste So Good have been fixed with the correction of pitch and all the issues have disappeared. Including unwanted noises etc. caused by the cuts scattered in and after Angie that have been deleted.
However, the undulating sounds that occur at the beginning of Gimme Shelter and Tumbling Dice could not have been fixed, and there appears to be no other source that can compensate for the previous cuts, including the end of Midnight Rambler. On the other hand, if you are a maniac collector it is definitely sure that you will feel surprised as the sound here has been improved. Sound quality of the original recording  lacked thickness and then there were noises all over, but this time the equalization although having not fixed everything, it is better to take advantage of this analogue audience recording with the pitch that has become accurate, the whole outcome seems to be unexpectedly comfortable to listen and enjoy, despite the fact that it is in mono.

About the performance, the following one was the famous Brussels. Compared to that historical show, this Stones performance is a masterpiece as well, being one of the finest performances of the sharpen Europe 73 with clear sounds, this audience recording captures not only vocals and guitars but also the sound of the horn section, a unique feature for the 73 tours, so it is possible to dig this 73 European concert even more. The sharpness of the performance and the sense of speed that runs away with the show progressing makes everything look superb.
Taylor s solo on Gimme Shelter which was the highlight of every show at the beginning of the concert is also one of the the best here, proving this a wonderful version. Mick is even more radiant, in Tumbling Dice he reached his climax with those hyper-vocals that seem to portrait clearly the best of the European 73 tour, the whole tour was exceptional and the this performance shows it in full.
It is now a proper silver disc packaging with photographs from the concert, although a bit dark, for the first time are shown on this release. The restoration work performed has allowed Stones European 73 fans to absolutely enjoy this recording with its improved   sound output, but a definitive version of the Antwerp 73 concert seems yet a long way to come.
