REVIEW:

This amateur release presents the Tribute to Ian Stewart, the famous 6th Stone, as complete as possible with the second show that opens the collection on Disc One and what is available of the first show on Disc Two together with 6 tracks from the Maggie s Cancer care benefit that happened last October in Cheltenham. The Boogie 4 Stu Tribute was in fact an appearance of The A,B.C & D of Boogie which includes as permanent members Charlie Watts (drums), Axel, Zwingenberger (piano), Ben Waters (piano) and Dave Green (bass) with the participation as special guests of Ronnie Wood (guitar, vocal), Bill Wyman (bass, vocal), Mick Taylor (guitar), Mick Hucknall (vocal), Jools Holland (piano), Tom Waters (saxophone), Don Weller (saxophone), Willie Garnett (saxophone), Shakin Stevens (vocal), Martyn Hope (guitar), Hamish Maxwell (vocals). Soundwise the tracks have all been processed and the sound is uniform and quite good. On Disc One we have Mick Hucknall on lead vocals except for Worried Life Blues where Ronnie Wood sings, Down the Road Apiece with Jools Holland, Roomin House Blues   and Little Queenie with Ben Waters, You Never Can Tell with Bill Wyman, Shake Rattle and Roll with Hamish Maxwell, Don t Lie To Me that has Shakin Stevens as lead singer; as for Disc Two, apart from the same singers on the same songs  Some songs that are chopped (Boogie For Stu on Disc One is just few seconds long)  are reconstructed with the aid of another source (You Never Can Tell)

The  Cheltenham benefit was in fact called Lifting The Blues, a charity concert in aid of Maggie s Cancer Care   with in attendance Bill Wyman (bass), Ben Waters (piano), Kyla Brox (vocals),Terry Taylor (guitar),Tom Waters (Saxophone), Adam Davey (saxophone), Ady Milward (drums) and Danny Blomeley (guitar). Here as lead singers we have we get Kyla Brox on I Just Wanna Make Love To You and Backwater Blues, Terry Taylor on Too Late and Ben Waters on   Shake, Rattle And Roll.

This is a very nice project, too bad the packaging is quite bizarre with the 1st set on Disc Two and the 2nd   set on Disc One where there is one song from the 1st set; another bad thing is that some songs are incomplete, other than that this is a very enjoyable bunch of songs despite most having been recorded in mono..

The best toys are the ones that are both educational and multi-purposeful.
