REVIEW:

The second title in a superbly assembled trilogy by Silent Sea.

Produced by the label on a DVD10 dual-sided disc (all three titles in the set are), this allows for a nice marriage of material to be conveniently packaged for collectors - and the slick, professionally manufactured DVD foldout digipack case is going to be the hook for all Beatles fanatics.  I cannot rave enough about the manner in which Silent Sea housed what some might call "borderline" material.

The official film, "Help!" is widely available throughout the world in stereo versioned VHS and DVD.  As I mention in the review for Filmography 1, the fact that this is a mono print may not dissuade officials who would bear scrutiny to such a project - but they would be also hard pressed to concede it is an effort of truly great respect for it's subjects and obviously displays a production that was well thought out.  So, the mono version of the movie "Help!" covers side A.  It's the interesting choices for side B that again will provide the allure to collectors.

Side B of this dual-sided disc kicks off with the 20-minute cab ride outtake from the Bob Dylan film "Don't Look Back", directed by D.A. Pennebaker that captures Bob Dylan and John Lennon sharing a cab in London back in 1966.  It apparently took 2 reels of film to document this private time between two legendary artists and it's all here.  Now, whether or not it is actually interesting to viewers is another story!  I thought it was cool the first time I viewed it but after that it's just kind of...well, odd.  The subjects are so charismatic though, that it is hard not to be captivated to some degree.  It's just the stoned oriented mumblings of Dylan that make it a bit tedious after a first run-through.  This has been the crowning piece to the Bob Dylan bootleg video "Eat The Document" that has made the rounds for ages and is certainly a highly collectible piece of footage for collectors of either artist.

The balance of Side B is made up of the official promotional Electronic Press Kits for the home video release of "Yellow Submarine" on DVD back in 2000.  Very fun and well organized, well thought out promotional video for Television stations around the world to use and incorporate into their pieces on the long awaited Beatle animated film.  All that being said, this is tremendously repetitious stuff and you WILL get bored simply trying to give it all a viewing!  Silent Sea should be commended for obtaining this kind of material to included in this Beatle Cinematic themed time capsule from the mid-to-late 60's period.  I almost wish they would have dug up a little more along the lines of "Magical Mystery Tour", surely there could have been some representation to provide completeness with this phase of the Fab Four.

Anyway, a great and collectible piece that you would certainly like displaying and sharing with your network of family and friends.  It's cool!.
