REVIEW:

This new release from Jointrip (dedicated to the memory of Ian McLagan and Bobby Keys) expands the 1974-1979 set that came out some time ago adding pro shot films of the CNIB benefit and Knebworth 79 appearances;   the first film is said to be unaired by Canada tv. The first portion presents the Oshawa 79 concert, shot from a distance but in colour, the first track is John Belushi s introduction (audio only). The rest of the disc has the whole Knebworth performance when they opened for Led Zeppelin in pro shot quality with timecode at the bottom of the screen. This is a multicamera good quality film in colour with many close ups shots of every performer playing (very few of Phil Chen that replaced Stanley Clarke) and frequent zooms; the set opens with a long introduction showing the audience with Sure The One You Need playing in the background. From the end of Breath On Me, I Can Feel The Fire and Worried Life Blues Sugar Blue joins the band on stage. Ron Wood joins Bobby Keys on sax on Let s Go Steady Again and plays the harp at the beginning of Worried Life Blues together with Sugar Blue. Unfortunately Jumping Jack Flash is cut after just a minute, anyway this film is a nice one, presenting a good looking version of the Knebworth 79 concert.

Discs Two and Three are a copy of 74-79 (D-Stone 017) that has both a stereo and mono version of the Kilburn 74 gig with Keith Richards and Rod Stewart in attendance that had been released officially by Ron Wood s Wooden Records; on the mono mix there is If You Gotta Make A Fool Of Somebody that wasn t shown before, two promo clips from the Gimme Some Neck album (Seven Days where Wood plays all instruments and Buried Alive with Ringo Starr), two newscasts from the famous C.N.I.B. Concerts in Oshawa that featured the New Barbarians opening for the Rolling Stones   and finally the whole Largo 79 concert, itself released officially by Wooden Records on cd and maybe the producers could have use it the stereo version that would have increased this product appeal.
