REVIEW: |
This disc
presents the New Barbarians rehearsing for Knebworth, this one is for completists
only. This recording was de-clicked as well as lots of noises; despite all
efforts these rehearsals were of bad quality and still are. This was the line-up:
Ron Wood on guitar, vocals, harmonica and sax, Keith Richards on guitar and vocals,
Ian McLagan on piano and organ, Phil Chen on bass, Bobby Keys on sax and Joseph
Modeliste on drums; not that for the Knebworth show Stanley Clarke was replaced
on short notice by bassist
Phil Chen
, who had to learn all the songs in one day.
It was then decided to reward the
completists who downloaded this with a couple of bonus tracks…
well, the first one is not exactly The New
Barbarians but also not so far away from them - a predecessor so to say! The line-up
for this video consisted of: Ron Wood on guitar and vocals, Pops Powell on bass,
Ian McLagan on keyboards and backing vocals, Bobby Keys on sax and Ringo Starr on
drums,
The
video was ripped since this recording was lossy.
The second
bonus original file was very deteriorated when received with lots of gaps, a
long time was spent trying to restore it using little patches; however, several
‘breaks’ remain. As previously said the audio quality of these tracks us quite
bad, mostly due to the bass being saturated, the last two tracks instead are of
good quality and especially the Fingerprint File jam is interesting and may end
up on some Japan bootleg.
