REVIEW:

And you thought Crystal Cat only released Springsteen, Neil Young and Bob Dylan...

No they have released a handful of U2 shows and this has to be one of the best bootlegs I've ever heard (from any artist).  Crystal clear sound from FM broadcast.  Bono and the boys kick off the show at midnight 12/31/89 and the feeling in the air is pure excitement.  In "Bullet the Blue Sky", Bono declares "this is Dublin City, this is where we come from".  That about sums it up.  Every song is played with great energy and this release easily blows the official "Rattle & Hum" out of the water!  Bono's raps between songs are surprisingly short but you can tell how proud he is of his band and the last ten years since they broke into the big time.  I'm not even a U2 freak but I loved every minute of this concert.  The second CD kicks off with three songs featuring BB King.

The bonus tracks (soundwise) pale in comparison but are still a nice inclusion.  Interesting to see "All Along the Watchtower" on disc 2 is from the same source as "Rattle & Hum" but sounds totally different.  Ah, the magic of the studio and Jimmy Iovine.

Thanks for the review. I'm not the biggest U2 fan either , but this title is something special. The sound quality and a performance to match make this one a keeper. This release is everything you would expect from Crystal Cat - top notch. Thanks.

The best toys are the ones that are both educational and multi-purposeful.
