REVIEW:

Shows of the Women & Children First Tour are scarce, so I was happy to find this one. Sourced from a video line feed from a (so far) not circulating video/dvd of this show at the Capital Center, this same show was released on CD (-R) as "Remembering Largo" and "Bright Lights, Big Largo". This CD is factory pressed and released on the rare Japanese Aces high Label in a limited edition of 300 copies with impressive artwork. The artwork is based on the WACF album cover, a textured picture of Ed's Frankenstrat is used as a background element on the cover, disc, and backcover...very nice. The inside cover opens up to reveal a shot of Dave and shot of Ed from the 1980 tour. The undertray has a shot of Ed standing up against his speakers with his guitar. According to the excellent www.vhboots.com site, this show has been digitally remastered and sounds a little better than existing versions of this show in ciculation. There is reduced hiss and Dave sounds a little clearer. The recording is rare with some true gems in the set such as "Women in Love", "Take your Whiskey Home", "Loss Of Control", the cover rendition of "Bright Lights, Big City" and a superb version of "And The Cradle Will Rock". Unfortunately the show is far from complete, missing the first two songs "Romeo Delight" and "Bottoms Up" as well as "Everybody Wants Some" and the closing "You Really Got Me". Also, "And The Cradle..." is faded in and misses a large portion of this excellent song.

The quality is mediocre for a soundboard. It sounds flat without any dynamics and there's hardly any highs in the recording, making it sound fuzzy/muffled.

Since there are few releases of this tour it is an essential, that is until a complete version of this show on double CD with some remastering arrives on the scene!

Note: "And the Cradle Will Rock" is mis-labeled: "And the Candle Will Rock".

The best toys are the ones that are both educational and multi-purposeful.
