REVIEW:

A re-issue in deluxe digipack form, from The Swingin' Pig.  There is some debate whether this is actually from the orignal Pig Label, or someone assuming the identity.  Word has it that it is from the same guy who ran Swingin' Pig.  Same disc layout and art, etc.

The core material presented here is certainly worthy of re-release, especially in such a superb digipack presentation.  The Checkerboard Lounge show is legendary and we are glad to have it.  Onstage that night was an incredible group of talent:  Muddy Waters, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ron Wood, Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, Ian Stewart and Lefty Dizz.  Members of the Stones joined the Muddy Waters band onstage as they were in town for shows at the Rosemount Horizon.  Oh, to have been there.  Thoughtfully included are 3 bonus tracks: I Want To Be Loved (unreleased studio outtake, IBC Studios, London, March 11, 1963), I Can't Be Satisfied (BBC Radio performance on "Top Gear", July 23, 1964) and I Just Want To Make Love To You (live audience recording from Madrid, June 7, 1990).  This release should have stopped right there.  Those tracks fit into the spirit of the other material.  But no, Swingin' Pig had to dilute the title with totally unrelated bonus material from Mick Jagger's Live Aid set including the Tina Turner duet!....plus!....Tina Turner with Bryan Adams!....and then Tina with David Bowie?  What in the world were they thinking?

The bonus for the collector is all the value-added material gives us 2 CD's packed with music.  The digipack is beautiful but the choice of photos used is just completely pathetic...aside from the Muddy Waters shots.  If you do not have the Checkerboard Lounge show, you should.  This release presents it in superb quality too.  There you go.
