REVIEW: |
The seventh volume of the series is a recording of the Austin concert, a
special one that has the presence of Boby Keys and Ronnie Lane as guests; all available
versions were coming from the same source. one from Ron Wood Collection Part
19/20 had a better sound and ran at the correct speed. Therefore, channels have
been equilibrated (from +20 to +30% to the left channel) and the sound boosted.
A microgap between the first tracks was deleted
. On all recordings the last seconds of Black
Limousine were deteriorated by a big buzzy sound. The first version that was
longer was used together with a noise reduction device: now the last sentence
by Ron Wood can be heard: ‘You ain’t seen nothing yet’ he said. Note a fade
in/out before the slide medley (encore break - no music is lost).
This show
is very good, really punchy! Bobby Keys plays on Intro-Testify and Black
Limousine and on the whole of Disc Two, while Ronnie Lane guests on Flying, Ooh
La La and Stay With Me. This is a nice broad recording that has the guitar
pretty upfront and a great stereo separation.
