Volume four
of this series was a tribute to Bobby Bland and Jimmy Reed held at the
Troubador (warm up gig) ad the following day at the Royal Albert Hall in
London.
The line-up
for the Troubador was: Mick Taylor on guitar, Ron Wood on guitar, vocals and harmonica,
Dave Green on upright bass, Dexter Hercules on drums, Ian Jennings on bass and
Tom Hare on Bright Lights Big City. Then we have rehearsals for the 2013
Bluesfest; might come from the afternoon of 1st November 2013 to rehearse with
Paul Weller before the evening show? (It’s in a studio and not with Paul
Weller's band but with Ron Wood's band); the line-up here was: Ron Wood on guitar
and harmonica, Mick Taylor on guitar, Paul Weller on guitar and vocals, Dave
Green on upright bass, Dexter Hercules on drums, Ian Jennings on bass plus Ben
Waters (present but not playing).
Next comes the
London, Royal Albert Hall, BluesFest with Ron Wood & Mick Taylor jamming with
Mick Hucknall and his band during the Bobby Bland tribute. Finally, the London,
Royal Albert Hall, BluesFest, Tribute To Jimmy Reed.
Here the line-up
was: Mick Taylor on guitar, Ron Wood on guitar, harmonica and vocals, Dave
Green (upright bass)/Dexter Hercules on drums, Ian Jennings on bass, Ben Waters
on piano from High And Lonesome onwards). Note: With special guests Tom Hare on
vocals on Baby What You Want Me To Do, Bobby Womack on guitar and vocals on Big
Boss Man and Bright Lights, Big City, Mick Hucknall on vocals and harmonica on
Got No Where To Go, Paul Weller on guitar and vocals
on Shame Shame
Shame.
The
complete show was professionally recorded by UK radio (BBC2) and partially
released officially on the cd Mr Luck - A Tribute To Jimmy Reed: Live At The
Royal Albert Hall (BMG 538682242). Producers: Rn Wood, Rod Callan & Anna
Donarski. Sound engineers: Rod Callan & Anna Donarski. Mixed by Bob
Clearmountain & Brandon Duncan.
The Royal Albert Hall tracks are really good, too bad the (merged) stereo tracks
are few with regards to all the other ones.
