REVIEW: |
Here we are in San Diego for the eighth volume of the series; it was Chuck
McGee’s birthday and the intro riff of the Lennon/McCartney-song gets played
twice right after Black Limousine. All versions of this concert come from the
same source: a radio broadcast. 6 tracks appeared also on Live And Eclectic (Burning
Airlines PILOT 70); other versions can be found on other cdrs like San Diego
11-16-1992, San Diego Rhythm Café 92, Show Me What Yu Can Do. However, the best
sounding release is the one mistitled Live In Austin (TSP-CD-203) because the
sound is clear and not as saturated as on other versions. The only problem with
the TSP version is that the in-between song comments have been shortened and
the birthday-riffs deleted. Therefore, here these missing parts coming from another
good source were used and also a part from the radio broadcast intro. So here we
get a mix of two versions. This release presents the best sounding version of
this show (and of other Wood solo concerts) for sure and can be enjoyed in
full.
