REVIEW: |
This new
version of the tenth volume of this series popped up late, but being an upgrade
prompted the series maker to its release. This show had Willie Dixon as the
main evening guest, with this line-up: Ron Wood on guitar, Wille Dixon on vocals,
Bobby Keys on sax & possibly Carey Bell on harmonica, Dennis Miller on guitar,
Darren Darnell on drums, Michael Morrison on bass and unknown organ and piano
player, possibly Lafayette Leake who played on Willie Dixon Grammy Award 1988
album Hidden Charms.
Contrary to
the previous release were there were two versions of the same recording with a
stereo reconstruction, here we get a much better one. As usual the original recording
has been de-clicked, amplified and edited; the last two tracks were inverted,
but are now in the right order with the outro more complete; since I’m Ready
lasted just 1 minute a patch from the other version has been applied, just like
the 33 seconds from the intermezzo to the end of Spoonful. However, it has been
found that the old version was 3% slower, so the patches too had to be
accelerated. As said before this is an excellent stereo recording with great
bass frequencies that allow to hear Willie Dixon lines; the setlist is a
showcase of Dixon most known compositions.
