REVIEW: |
This eight
volume presents Ron Wood jamming with Toots & The Maytals, so we have here
a music change with regards to the other shows in the series, the line up was:
Ron Wood on guitar, Toots Hibbert on vocals, Errol Moore on guitar, Paul
Douglas on drums, Hux Brown on guitar, Winston Wright on keyboards, Jackie
Jackson on bass, Henry 'Raleigh' Gordon and Nathaniel 'Jerry' Matthias on backing
vocals. Two versions of this recording exist, the first one was closer to the
original recording and with a better frequency spectrum than the version
already in circulation, so this is the source used with the addition of
more trebles, channels being rebalanced and
the volume a but amplified. The middle part of the show is a long jam being
titled 54-46 was my name. Note: there are some microphone faults in the middle
of the medley (15’20) and a small quote from Satisfaction (at 13’40). Songs
sequence was modified: indeed Reggae Got Soul must be the last title because
after a delay the sound system plays an extract of Brown Sugar. It is in fact
not clear when Ron Wood starts playing, for sure he is on Reggae Got Soul since
he can be heard speaking to the audience too.
