REVIEW:
If George believed in reincarnation and in fact has had a chance to hop back onto this mortal coil already, he no doubt is seething over the sound quality of the numerous boots that have come out since his passing, many of them from the '74 tour, oddly enough. Vintage performance or not, and notwithstanding the obvious historical significance here (hence the title - the show was held at Vancouver's Pacific Coliseum), it would be hard to recommend this to anyone who's not a total Harrison completist. It sounds like it's coming out of a tiny AM radio, with nighttime atmospheric distortion as well, given the intermittent whooshing and partial dropouts (tape head misalignment no doubt). The set includes Tom Scott & the L.A. Express taking centerstage for "Tom Cat," ditto Billy Preston for "Outa-Space" and "Nothing From Nothing." At the time George was promoting the album Dark Horse (it inaugurated his Dark Horse label), which would be issued a few weeks after this concert, but that's not saying a whole lot since that record was a pretty lifeless affair compared to his previous releases. Come to think of it, if George is back in any way, shape or form, he's probably incurring some karmic payback for foisting the Dark Horse album on his fans. BMW # BMW 025
