This is a very cool release and highly recommended. I wasn't sure where we were going with the first track. It is a Radio Promo for a syndicated radio program about Jimi Hendrix's blues tapes and unreleased material that surrounded the official "Crash Landing" LP.
First off, the sound quality is tops. The packaging is nicely crafted from photos of Jimi throughout his career and thoughtfully layed-out. In essence, nice representation for the material contained within.
These are apparently the original tapes Alan Douglas had at his disposal when Warner Brothers summoned him to embrace the mission of creating/formating an LP from the material. What was shocking to learn of course, is that Douglas wiped the backing tracks completely and brought in session musicians to reformat the songs to Jimi's Guitar work. Here, it is all as it should have been heard. With, Buddy Miles, Billy Cox and Juma Sultan behind the sessions that created the "Crash Landing" movements.
It is now a "proper" mix for the fans and Watch Tower has done a fantastic job with its' presentation to such important work.
