REVIEW:

This series is dedicated to the late Jeff Beck that passed away on January 10, 2023 and aims to cover the live activities of the Jeff Beck Group with Ron Wood, the l ine-up of this first incarnation consisted of Ron Wood on bass and backing vocals, Jeff Beck on guitar, Rod Stewart on vocals and Aynsley Dunbar on drums, featured here in his last appearance with the band.

This recording appeared on several bootlegs (The Oldest Tape (Scarecrow 010), Jeff Beck Group Windsor 1967, Beck To The Future (6702 A/B), We Love You (Scarecrow 021-22), Humblin’ Gamblin’ (MUCD 004) Live Rare 1967-68 (SRS Rec.), Stone Cold Crazy (93 JB 018), Boston Tea Party 1968 (Sinsemilla TOP/JB68020S) all coming from the same source.

The version used here was the one published by KRW_CO which is supposed to be a 2nd generation analog to DAT transfer. Listening to it, however it seemed to run too fast: in fact it sounds better with a -3,6% deceleration… close to the one chosen on the Beck To The Future (6702 A/B) release. On this version the transitions between tracks were reworked, some micro-gaps deleted and both channels rebalanced. This recording is quite good for the times with Ron Wood bass in evidence, but all instruments as well as vocals can be clearly identified.
