REVIEW: |
This is a series dedicated to Mick
Taylor’s shows with John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers in May and June 1982 when they
toured California and the US Est Coast. The l
ine-up was: Mick Taylor
on guitar and some keyboards, John Mayall on vocals, keyboards, harmonica and guitar,
John McVie on bass, Colin Allen on drums.
Note: with special guest Maggie Parker on vocals
on Road Show, Talk To Your Daughter and Room To Move.
A few years ago (2016) I
had already offered a reworked version of this concert, but it was quite
high-pitched and incomplete (the band introduction and the passages between the
songs were missing). Later another version appeared from the same source, but more
complete although still hissy. For this series two versions were made: Vol. 1a
is the new reworked version, while Vol 1b is the old version improved and completed
with patches from version 1a.
The one reviewed
here is version 1a, which had to be decelerated by -6% and also de-clicked,
channel rebalanced with treble reduction to try to reduce the hiss and sound amplified.
Overall, this is an acceptable recording of a well played gig.
