REVIEW:

Other than the 2 Benefit shows in Memphis a month earlier, the Pearl Harbor Memorial Benefit Concert on March 25, 1961 was the only other live performance by Elvis that year.  And what a performance!  Surprisingly, it is scarcely referenced in historical notations on Elvis.

Though the artwork indicates it is a soundboard, it's a primitive sounding one.  It really sounds like an old TV Broadcast - which it is not.  I'm just offering a point of reference for the audio quality on this recording.  Plus, the pitch is a bit off and seems to run a little fast.  This title is sourced from vinyl and likely comes from the German Golden Archives release (GA200), that goes way back.

Regardless, it is a fun show with hysterical screaming that would set the standard for Beatlemania a few years later! A wonderful performance and another piece of history that is now widely available at a budget price.  The artwork and accompanying booklet are again well researched and presented by Hot Stuff.  After an insane and extended version of Hound Dog....the show closes with the classic line..."Elvis has left the building".  The three bonus tracks are taken from various sources including Elvis' movies.  "Faded Love" features the best audio quality on the disc with a superb guitar solo.  Elvis fans are encouraged to fill in the source info on these three bonuses in the comment section, as I couldn't readily confirm that info.  Enjoy
