The first stop in London in early December 19092 happened at the Marquee
and for this shows there are 2 sources and 5 versions.
The first version and the one called London
Marquee Club 2-12-1992 are identical: a lossless audience recording but the
last track was missing (Whip It Up). It ran 2,7% too slow and the sound was
quite muddy; the version contained in It’s Oldie Rock n Roll (Masterport 079) instead
had a much better sound and was complete, but lossy. Two other versions Yap Yap
(ICJ 15) and the bonus tracks from Vive La France (no label) are lossy
and incomplete: they seem to be
extracted from the Masterport release.
So, it was decided to do two versions: the
first coming from the Masterport source: lossy but complete and with a better
sound and the second a lossless recording, but with a muddy sound and the
encore track missing (Whip It Up).
This version here comes from It’s Oldie
Rock ‘n Roll (Masterport-079), some little gaps between the tracks were deleted,
the overall sound amplified a bit and all the tracks now start with a song;
there is a fade in/out between the encore break. Sincerely I do not see the
point in examining the other version, the incomplete muddy sound is no match,
lossless or not. This is a strangely short concert, without Demon, Before They
Make Me Run or Running Too Deep that will be added later in the tour to the
setlist, anyway this seems t be the best possible version available.
