| REVIEW: |
Volume Two of this series feature a recording from the
Lone Star Cafè in late December 1986.
A
recordinrg of this show was already published (FP 043) but this one is also
very interesting especially for the last tracks which are of better quality. Here
the l
ine-up was: Mick Taylor on guitar, Jon Young on vocals, keyboards and
congas), Wayne Hammond on bass and Mike Cullen on drums.
Mick Taylor sings on Hi Heel Sneakers and this is the
first time he sang lead vocals in a
show (“killing time” or “temporizing” while an equipment issue onstage was resolved) There
already was a recording of this show, but the Maidenlane recording is better
for sound and speed so it was decided to use it, after some reworking: the
recording has been de-clicked, its sound amplified and tracks edited. Note a
fade in/out after Red House due to tape flip, but no music was lost. This is an
excellent recording although lacking some bass frequencies in my opinion, but
is useful to document a great show.
