REVIEW: |
Volume Four of this series presents a recording from Lone Star Café in New
York in 1987.
Here the l
ine-up
was MT on guitar and vocals, Max Middleton on keyboards, Wayne Hammond on bass,
Mike Cullen on drums, Shane Fontayne on guitar and Larry on congas. This is a
very good recording,
more interesting than the version circulating before
because the sound is better, warmer and there are no fluctuations in the sound
that spoiled the start of Can't You Hear Me Knocking, but the end of I Wonder
Why is abrupt (tape flip) and above all it lacks a large part of the
instrumental blues which started the show. This version features only this new
reworked recording in which the recording has been de-clicked, the tracks
edited, the channels balanced (+10 to +15% for the left channel) and the overall
speed corrected (decelerated by around -3,5%). A vert enjoyable recording with
the 2nd guitar and congas that are sufficient to change the sound we are used
to; for once Can’t You Hear Me Knocking does not close the show.
