REVIEW: |
This release
presents Bill Wyman s Rhythm Kings 1998 Cologne
concert.
It was a great
show and the recording too, so no
need to work on this, except to separate the songs. The 1998 Rhythm Kings Tour
lasted a bit more than the 1997 one starting in Belgium and ending in Norway and
was done to promote the album Anyway The Wind Blows released in late September
of that year; however only 5 songs from it were performed here. This is a solid
performance from what can be called a big band, due to the number of band
members, so when judging the players performance that factor must also be taken
into account. It is funny that Georgie Fame, introducing the band said that
they had been on the road for 9-10 days but now the great moment has arrived,
then Stuff sung by Bill Wyman starts; it is strange because in fact the song
was played the night before at the
Bad
Breisig gig.
On the
encore
Good Golly Miss Molly two member
of the Thompson Brothers, that formed the country music group of the same name,
were special guests on backing vocals .
