REVIEW: |
This release
presents Bill Wyman s Rhythm Kings 2000 Hamburg
concert, once more held at the Fabrik.
This is again a
very good
recording, nothing having been reworked.
The 2000 tour can hardly be called European
since the gigs were all in Germany
and Holland plus a handful in Britain, anyway it lasted from 9
through 30 April but there were many tv appearances and scattered shows through
June when a short British Tour began with the last concert on 25th
August. All this was done to promote the album Groovin that came out in May
2000. the last of the trilogy, but just four songs from this album are here
performed Groovin (The Young Rascals hit), Rhythm King by Georgie Fame, I Put A
Spell On You, the Screaming Jay Hawkins hit and Mood Swing. For this tour the l
ine up consisted of Bill Wyman on bass,
Gary Brooker on keyboards and vocals, Georgie Fame on keyboards and vocals, Terry
Taylor on guitar and backing vocals, Martin Taylor on guitar, Albert Lee on guitar
and vocals, Graham Broad on drums, Beverley Skeete on vocals, Frank Mead on alto
sax, flute and harmonica, Nick Payn on tenor sax, flute and harmonica and Janice
Hoyte on vocals. Lead Me To The Water is a reggae tune coming from Gary Brooker
solo album from 1982 to which Albert Lee participated along with George
Harrison, Eric Clapton
and Phil Collins, Mood
Swing
is a composition by
Irish bluegrass player Niall Toner.
