The review

REVIEW: An outstanding audience recording of the last night of Tori Amos’ Scarlet’s Walk Euro tour, this is notable on several counts. One, the show included what was presumably an “audible” of an encore, the song “Twinkle” which is, as best as I can determined, played very rarely (at least on this leg of the tour – haven’t checked the stats for the current American leg, dubbed the “Lottapianos Tour,” with Ben Folds). Also, during the traditional mid-concert solo piano break, Amos pulled out a credible cover of The Eagles’ classic “Desperado” (she frequently works up unexpected cover songs for this segment of her show). And while some online reviews of the show have suggested that the Paris show was unquestionably the best one of the tour, this one was a Top Ten list-entry too. Wrote one fan, “She wasn't very talkative, but the sound and choice of songs were extraordinarily good. Much better than at the gigs I saw during her last tour (except for Mannheim which I think was superb). It was so good to hear a great mixture of some "real classics", excellent album tracks and new songs. The cover versions were brilliant, too.” And it was clearly an emotional night, too. Another fan quoted Tori speaking to the crowd: "So - this is our last stop before we go back over the water. And - we leave with heavy hearts because it´s been very eye- opening being over here. [taking a deep breath] Don´t let those Americans push you around. Well, the ones that believe in the same thing are counting on you."

Special note regarding the packaging: drop-dead gorgeous. A silver/white/grey color motif for this quad-fold double digipack, and it includes clear plastic trays and a panorama of color photos of Amos. Definitely the work of some serious Amos fans. – OSWALD
