REVIEW:

For two nights in May of 1977, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes and Ronnie Spector gathered for two shows showcasing the best of each.   This show is from the 13th, which unfortunately (depending on the way you look at it), Southside Johnny is absent due to illness.  However, Bruce and Miami Steve take over the vocals and the whole thing comes off pretty uniquely.   Ronnie Spector's set (backed by the Jukes and E Street Band) is great and includes her record recorded with the E Street Band "Say Goodbye to Hollywood".  Bruce's set is awesome (seems when he only gets to play a few songs he put the energy of a whole show into just those tunes.   Hot Stuff noted to us that they had source tapes for both shows but the show on the 12th where Southside Johnny was present was a pretty miserable listen.  The 13th however, is very listenable.  Not astounding but this being this show is quite a rarity, it's really fun to hear.  As Hot Stuff mentioned - "this is as good as it gets and it's a show you want to hear no matter what the quality".   Packaging is a great laminated gatefold sleeve set up to be like a mini-LP set including CD's that look (and feel) like little records.  Cool photos include some cool Asbury Park photos including a photo in the gatefold of the boardwalk carnival at night during it's heyday in the sixties.
