REVIEW:

This is an addition to the series that presented the shows in which Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts teamed up in 1983 to support a string of charity concerts (2 in London and 9 in the US). Actually, it can be called a prequel, because it presents the pre tour rehearsals at Glyn Johns’ house in England where there have been s ix days of rehearsals (this one’s coming surely from one of the latter days).
Musicians featured are: Charlie Watts on drums, Bill Wyman on bass, but
not on the Winwood tracks ), Eric Clapton on guitar and vocals), Steve Winwood on organ, harmonica, vocals, guitar and mandolin, Kenney Jones on drums, Andy Fairweather Low on guitar and vocals, Chris Stainton on keyboards, Ray Cooper and Simon Philipps on percussions.
Additional musicians on the Winwood-set: Fernando Saunders on bass and James Hooker on keyboards. In particular on the Eric Clapton-set:
on Everybody Oughta Make A Change there was a
micro-gap compensated at 1’20, on Man Smart, Woman Smarter Andy Fairweather Low is on vocals and on guitar on Lay Down Sally; here there was a micro-gap compensated at 3’30 and an important speed problem from 2’20 until 2’55, partially upgraded. On Wonderful Tonight Andy Fairweather Low is on guitar and harmony vocals. Here there was another micro-gap compensated at 1’32 as well as important speed problem from 0’49 to 1’13, partially upgraded.
In the Steve Winwood-set on Hound Dog two noises deleted in the banter; on Road Runner
Steve Winwood is on guitar. On Slowdown Sundown Steve Winwood is on mandolin, there was an important speed problem at the end of this track: here it wasn’t tried to upgrade it as well as on Gimme Some Lovin’ where another important speed problem from 0’30 until 2’25 was partially upgraded. All tracks have been de-clicked, channels rebalanced (+10% for the left channel) and the phase adjusted. As noted before there were important speed problems in some tracks (5, 6, 12 & 13): what was possible was done to upgrade tracks 5, 6 & 13 (only by listening to them but you’d probably need a musician) but not for track 12 , which wasn't familiar enough. These tracks unmodified are here as bonus material. Sound wise the recording starts a bit rough but then improves from Track 2 on; despite speed problems this is an important release and it is weird that no label has released it, especially the one dedicated to Eric Clapton (Mid Valley).
