REVIEW: |
This cdr
presents a copy of the Faces Plynth vinyl bootleg (TMOQ 71016) , an historical
gig that happened at the end of October that is offered as bonus to the first
buyers of Santa Monica 1970 disc from the Wardour label. The original album came
out on a plain cover holding a coloured vinyl by TMOQ which also reissued it
with an insert cover; it was also released on CBM (3A-B3) and it is not clear
which label released it first, though it was reported the CBM album to be
slightly better and with track separation. This recording has also come out on
a cd of the same name (WPOC 10190 D 060-2) and it
is an interesting version that presents part
of the concert, but shows its fantastic quality despite being in mono;
interestingly this is the beginning of the concert, we get the introduction
where the MC presents the band as The Small Faces, but then from the original
show Devotion is skipped and we get Wicked Messenger and then the rest of songs.
You re My Girl fades out at the end of what was Side One, as It s All Over Now
on Side Two which was almost entirely devoted to the Plynth Medley. It s All
Over Now was the last song before the encores (yes there were two sets).
However this disc is not redundant as 5 songs are not included in the Santa Monica 1970 cd .
