| REVIEW: |
This
release presents the Faces from the Swing Auditorium in San Bernardino from 7
March 1975, that was broadcasted later by US Radio KBFH (and on bootleg cd can
be found on Real Good Time from Swinging Pig). Some songs were also released on
the bootleg vinyl album Afterhours and on the Oh Boy cd of the same name of the
San Bernardino 76 (sic) Mini LP and as Take A Look At The Five Guys (Vintage
Masters 006) while Sweet Little Rock’n Roller was officially released in 1991
on The Best of King Biscuit Flower Hour. This is a solid performance by the
band in its final days when they were actually mixing solo stuff on stage as
well as their favourite band classic songs. Unfortunately, very few of these
soundboard concert tracks ended up on any official compilation, let alone the
fact that Coast to Coast is still the only official live album of the band, so
fans will have to rely on bootlegs reissues in order to get this enjoyable stuff.
This is a complete concert lacking only It’s All Over Now from the original performance,
now something about packaging: it is a nice digipack but the track listing contains
wrong information: are listed 3 bonus tracks said to come from other 1975 shows,
but they were actually from San Bernardino too, let alone the useless decision
to provide a number to Rod Stewart in between songs comment, here called Talk.
Finally, unknown is the reason that induced this label to call the last 3
tracks “audience” claiming they come from different concerts while they all are
from the same show and not placing them in the order they were played.
