This
documentary was broadcasted by the BBC in July 2022 and this is part four of
the series My Life As a Rolling Stone, which was the last one. From the back
cover:
“Charlie
Watts was for 60 years the drummer of the Rolling Stones. But he died on 2021.
Here a stellar cast of musicians describe Charlie Watts. Featuring rare archive
footage, many Rolling Stones rare soundtracks and interviews.” The known people
interviewed are Ron Wood, Tina Turner, Slash, Sheryl Crow, Slash, Keith
Richards, Lars Ulrich Mick Jagger, Steve Jordan, Chris Kimsey, Max Weinberg, Dave
Green, Stewart Copeland, Don Was, Steve Brown, Chuck Leavell, Patrick Woodroffe,
Shirley Watts, Brian Johnston, Dario Carnera (Charlie’s favourite tailor
Huntsman), Mick Jagger, Glyn Johns, Earl Young, Courtney Pine, Slash, Jon Bon
Jovi, Bernard Fowler, Jane Rose
An
interesting audio broadcasted was the man’s first recording from 21 August 1959
at Edgeware Club, London with the Joe Jones All Stars, namely with Goosey
Gardner (Woody Herman).However, doer
Stones fan impressive are the ‘secret rooms’ where Charlie Watts set of drums
are kept, including some of his jazz heroes instruments (Charlie Parker, Elvin
Jones, Roy Haynes and Gene Krupa) as well as the Stones one where their recordings
on tapes are kept, outtakes included. Charlie
Watts passed away on August 24th 2021 and this documentary could
just be his final legacy, I believe he would have liked it.
