REVIEW: |
This is the final volume to complete the series
with a DVD of the tv show recorded on September 18, 1991 for Japanese TV,
nothing has been done here except for the cover because the original one was incorrect,
the date being wrong. Picture are good as well as the audio portion, given that
this was broadcasted and recorded on VHS tape shortly less than 30 years ago.
The interviews (not dubbed but with Japanese subtitles) are conducted by Mike
Koshitani who is the brain behind the Stone People magazine (with Yuji Ikeda) and well known Japan
collector. Charlie Watts himself plays sax at the beginning of Practicing, Practicing
Just Great; it is quite unusual for a tv show to be recorded in a studio
without audience, it is not known why Japan tv decided not to record one of the
shows played at the Aoyama Spiral, anyway this is a nice recording and a
pleasure to watch for those that love this kind of music. The show has been
recorded professionally with many cameras that focus on each player at the
right moment when they play their part and it is a nice addition to the series.
There is an interactive menu but no chapter selection, which could prove to be
uncomfortable for who may be looking for a single song, having to forward fast.
Too bad the concert from September 18, 1991 at
the same venue for I.W. Harper Bow Tie Design Contest, which included different
songs like Star Eyes,, Easy Living, I Got It Bad And That Ain t Good and
Perdido has not surfaced.
