The review
Here we have the first show from Tokyo second day from Charlie Watts Quintet, this is a good quality recording that just needed a rebalancing of channels and the usual separation of narration from the songs, the sound was boosted of about 2db and covers created. It must be noted that this recording too was previously circulating in a lossy version, but this one is lossless.
For the back cover again have been used and reworked some images from the great Japanese fanzine Stone People (issue #60). On these concerts the setlist is almost identical, the reason is that the shows have been scheduled to promote the release of From One Charlie, a cd that contained the tribute to Charlie Parker, an all time hero of Charlie Watts about whom he even released a small book in 1964 which was later re-released together with this album in a box set. The album recounts the story of Charlie Parker from its harsh beginnings to its ultimate death, so it could be said this was a concept album duly reproduced on stage.
