The review
The Japan Tour by Charlie Watts and his Quintet happened just one year after the Stones first trip in Japan, the band's line up included Charlie Watts on drums, Peter King on sax, Gerard Presencer onytumpet, David Green on bass, Brian Lemon on piano, Bernard Fowler as narrator and a string section called Trybeat (on 'Terra De Pajaro and Going, Going, Going, Gone). This release documents the very first concert, the tape was originally quite good in itself, there was only the need to separate the narration from the songs, to amplify the sound (+2db), cut unwanted noise at 43 seconds in the intro and of course to create the covers for the back cover have been used and reworked some pictures from the great Japanese fanzine Stone People (issue #60). This music of course will appeal to jazz lovers abut could be interesting for Stones collectors in general to expand their own musical horizon.
