This new box set compiles many Dylan tracks from 1986 in Soundboard quality, but starts with some 1983-1985 stuff. The first disc presents the Empire Burlesque outtakes from July 84 through April 85, speed corrected. Many bootlegs have had their attention on these recordings, let s just mention Empire Burlesque Outtakes on vinyl and The Naked Empire (Godfather Records) which is actually what has been copied on Disc one (see that review for details). Disc two presents a 1985 recording of the rehearsals that took place the night before Live Aid where Dylan played with Keith Richards and Ron Wood: a more comprehensive disc came out in 2001 from Rattlesnake called Voices of Freedom of which this is a copy, but later another one called Woody's Apartment Tapes that had more tracks and dialogue in between songs. From Discs 3 and 4 we have plenty of live concerts with Tom Petty& the Heartbreakers from the True Confessions Tour starting with the Sydney concert from late Feb.86, a show broadcasted by Westwood One on 30 August 86 that came out under a number of names (Bye Bye Johnny,Duelling Banjos, Hard to Handle, Live Adventures, Live in USA, Lonesome Town the first title to show the complete concert, Precious Memories, True Confessions and True Confessions for Carol of which this release claims to be a speed corrected version). Musically the concert is well played backed by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers although the back up singers (The Queens Of Rhythm) are sometimes too loud. What follows is the Buffalo concert from early July 86 which was shown live by VH1 and simulcasted on FM; it came out as Farm Aid 1986, Rich for Poor and 3 songs on TV Guide. RFK Stadium in Washington, DC saw the Grateful Dead sharing the stage with Dylan, who played amidst two Dead sets; no known silver release for this concert but only a 3 cdr set. This is an in house FM recording with some static noise and a lack of low frequencies for the first 4 songs. Another concert which didn t have a silver release is on Disc 9 from Morrison, Colorado of which we only have the second part of the show, followed by Tacoma on Discs 10 and 11 that came out on Live at Tacoma Dome and 4 songs on Covering Them. Discs 12 and 13 have the Mountain View, California show from early August 86 that came out as Be My Guest and Covering Them, with Al Kooper and John Lee Hooker as special guests. The last disc presents the Hearts of Fire sessions from London where the film soundtrack was recorded with Eric Clapton and Ron Wood and Kip Winger on bass with Henry Spinetti on drums  and Beau Hill on keyboards at the end of August 86, appearing on The Never Ending Tour boot taken from the playback speakers and also on Hearts of Fire Sessions on Countdown Factory. This must be one of the less inspiring Dylan material, however the recording is very good in line to the high sound standard of this set.
