REVIEW:

This concert was released as Mobile 1972 by Morganfield that was the only available from this concert for awhile, then Bad Wizard released a puzzling set called Turn The Heat Up that had a distant and low quality recording with extra tracks from Ft.Worth and Houston; later another source came out called Dustin Off The Freezer from the tapers nickname, soon pressed by Yugoslavian label Risk Disc as Kangaroo Mobile (including Adelaide 73 second show). VGP took this recording and put it out as Alabama Jubilee while Exile from Japan released it with the title Stuck Inside of Mobile (title taken from a verse of Dylan song of the same name) and recently from DAC on STP Vol.2 in mono. But this recording here is the most brilliant of the lot with a great stereo crisp sound and a wonderful cover coupled with yellow printed label (a la Rolling Stones Records) renders this product very palatable for Stones fans and collectors. Especially on "Love In Vain" it is amazing to hear Taylor's soaring solos backed by a heavy brass section, in great stereo, same for "You Can't Always Get What You Want" with Wyman bass pumping behind: certainly one of the best versions of this song live.

A funny thing happens at 1.33 of "Sweet Virginia" as my player stops and refused to go on; after many tries I used another player and everything worked fine there. Looks like there is a problem on early pressed copies that will be replaced by the label. The sound gets a bit saturated from "Rip This Joint" on through about 40 seconds of "Jumping Jack Flash" but otherwise this is a great and enjoyable release. It already happened with this label with MSG 75 that came out in stereo after all labels released a mono source and this time again with this title, evidently they have access to great tapes.

The best toys are the ones that are both educational and multi-purposeful.
