REVIEW: |
This new
release presents the Stones Dirty Work outtakes including a track never before
released Open The Door To Your Heart with lots of rough mixes from the 1985 sessions
that originated that album. the collection starts with Dirty Work Blues,
another recent discovery, while Winning Ugly outtake features additional bass
and Fight, Too Rude, Back To Zero, Had It With You are some kind of early
rehearsals all being first versions with early lyrics. Strictly Memphis is a
well known outtake that together with What Am I Supposed To Do features also
vocals by guest Bobby Womack and Don Covay who were invited to the sessions
when Jagger was out to promote his own album. Not just classic soul songs but
also original compositions in that vein as well: check the soulful 11 minutes
plus long ballad Talk Is Cheap by Keith Richards, whose title will be used for
his first solo album three years later. I Can’t See No One Else is named after
the second verse of If I Can t Have You, Gregory Isaac’s classic hit. Audio
quality is very good with great stereo separation, no significant hiss is
present here. Packaging shows an alternate front cover shot similar to the
original release.
