This is a
fan project that has recently appeared on a Stones message board and presents
songs in excellent soundboard quality taken from the Spring 97 sessions for BB
King’s album Deuces Wild.
The line-up for these sessions was: Mick Jagger on vocals and harmonica, Keith
Richards on guitar), Ron Wood on guitar, Charlie Watts on drums, B.B. King on vocals
and guitar), Darryl Jones on bass, Tommy Eyre on keyboards, Joe Sublett on sax
and Darrell Leonard on trumpet.
Apart from the first track which is a well-known 10 minutes jam, track n.2
comes from a Spanish promo cd that has a special edit version of the song that
gave name to the album; more interesting is track 3 which features the unfaded
version of the song without Jagger’s harmonica at the end. Very interesting is
the final track, Watermelon Man, that is the complete 9 minutes cover version
of the Herbie Hancock tune. This last track has not surfaced on any bootleg so
far; the song is called like the Hancock track even if the lyrics are
improvised by Jagger (Take the lead and I’ll follow) after a short start where the
song follows the original theme.
