REVIEW:

The second show in Pasadena on October 21, 1994 came out on tape as USA Pasadena 1994, later to be copied in 2001 on The Rose Bowl, Pasadena Oct.21, 1994 as 2 cdrs, while Memory Motel and All Down The Line from this concert can be found on Voodoo Lounge Tour Memorial US Tour Edition (Shaved Discs VLM USA 1-3) 3 cd set. Other cdrs with this show were Rocks Off at Rose Bowl and Pasadena Second Night.

This project was initiated following the download of the alternate source posted by a Lucifer Burns on Dime. After correcting the speed, it was found that this new version complements the previous one very well. The left channel here corresponds to the recent version (version #2) while the right channel corresponds to the older version (version #1). Both recordings have been de-clicked and slightly amplified. Version 2 had to be slowed down by -2.8% to be in sync with the previous one (this speed is confirmed by comparing the musical interlude with other shows from the period). The phase was also adjusted. The line up consisted of: Mick Jagger on vocals, guitar, harmonica, Keith Richards on guitar, vocals, Ron Wood on guitar, Charlie Watts on drums, Darryl Jones on bass and backing vocals, Bobby Keys on tenor sax, Chuck Leavell on keyboards and backing vocals, Lisa Fischer and Bernard Fowler on backing vocals and percussions, The New West Horns [Andy Snitzer (sax, some keyboards)/Michael Davis (trombone)/Kent Smith (trumpet)] on brass.

In detail, on Disc One: the Intro was merged except for the first 8 seconds which come solely from source #1, Beast Of Burden was merged except from 5’11 to 5’18 where 8 seconds come solely from source #1; on Disc Two: Miss You was merged except for the last 15 seconds which come solely from source #1, Start Me Up was merged except for the last 7 seconds which come solely from source #1, the Encore Break comes solely from version #1, Jumpin' Jack Flash was merged except for the first second and the last 23 seconds which come solely from source #1. The output sound is excellent as packaging.
