It is hard
these days to locate old 60s films looking good, most of the times what is
found and played on some ancient device presents weird movements and atrocious
sounds; this release instead offers a best of the early Stones with newly discovered
best quality ever films, restored by AI. In particular, here we get the
Hollywood Palace 64 show without timecode and this is new to me. The label also
attempted to erase watermarks on Reelin’ in the Years films, somehow succeeding
even if at times they are still visible. Sound has been improved too, but a
strange thing happens on Ready Steady Go, which seems to have been encoded in
surround: if you play it stereo you only get Jagger, Wyman and Watts with no
guitar, which will be heard switching to surround system. Another strange thing
is the absence of interactive menu; this is a nice effort, but maybe the label
could use the AI function to improve its English? Both title and some entries
are weirdly written. Apart from that this collection of 60s stuff has the best
look ever and waiting for some official release that will probably never happen
is the best on hand.
