REVIEW:

This new release focus on the Stones Black and Blue sessions including songs that have been recorded for other sessions though. Side One starts with Crazy Mama and features also Fool To Cry with Wayne Perkins, on Side Two Built That Way and the short version of I Love Ladies. Side Three has Memory Motel instrumental with both Wayne Perkins and Harvey Mandel, while on Side Four I Love Ladies long version. On Side Five there is the newly surfaced Chuck Berry No. again with Harvey Mandel, the last song is Never Stop, the reggae version of Start Me Up that was recorded in 1977. Side Six apart the great instrumental Act Together has other songs out of context: Scarlet, Dirty Work Blues and Looking For Trouble none of which has nothing to do with Black and Blue. On the accompanying insert are mentioned the session musicians that were playing here: Billy Preston, Nicky Hopkins, Ollie E. Brown, Ian Stewart apart from the abovementioned guitar players. This set however has a wonderful packaging with great cover and marvellous blue vinyl LPs.
