REVIEW: |
Here we have the first version of the famous Fully Finished Outtakes in
vinyl format, offering them remastered and in chronological order; however,
they are not placed in the same order as those found on the Acid Project
Special 4 discs, probably due to the platters time limits. The title alone
conjured how these outtakes saw the light of day, rumor is that this was one of
the many looks into the past the band did while searching for inspiration, but
the inclusion of the last 2 songs from the official DVD clashes with such
hypothesis; however, some of these have come out officially (Built That Way,
Scarlet, Trouble’s a Coming, Fast Talking, Slow Walking, It’s A Lie, Living In
The Heart Of Love, Criss Cross, Fiji Jim) on the Goat’s Head Soup or Tattoo You
Deluxe editions. The vault theme is not unusual for this label, just remember
the Through the Vaults Darkly series. These are outtakes that have become
classic ones, having been reviewed twice already it is not necessary to go
track by track again, let’s just spend some words on packaging, which is really
spectacular: the discs are gorgeous, the box has a very attractive tongue (silver
or gold depending on the choice) camping on a black background and inside we
can find a medium sized insert that has a young Keith Richards photo on one
side and a brief essay on the story of these outtakes on the other; then there
is a large 4 pages booklet with all the setlist side by side as well as recording
information. As a side note there was speculation about 2 or 3 more volumes
coming, soon as these came out, but it seems that there had been a
misunderstanding with the former 3 cds where each was identified as a “volume”.
There is not great hope to get this stuff in lossless quality though, since it
seems they were ‘grabbed’ hacking a digital transfer. Listening to these songs,
however, still make one winder how come they have not been officially issued, especially
the 1997 stuff, the only possible explanation could be the ongoing disagreement
between Jagger and Richards, that is currently preventing a Stones album with
own songs to be released since more or less 2009. Shall wait for this stalemate
to end because of nature?
