REVIEW:

The concert in Mobile, Alabama in 1972 was released as Mobile 1972 (Morganfield 03) that was the only available from this concert for awhile, then was released a puzzling set called Turn The Heat Up (Bad Wizard 6-24-25-27-72) which had a distant and low quality recording with extra tracks from Ft.Worth and Houston; later another source came out called Freezer Tape from the tapers nickname, soon pressed by Yugoslavian label Risk Disc as Kangaroo Mobile (RD 005) including Adelaide 73 second show. VGP took this recording and put it out as Alabama Jubilee (VGP 306) while Exile from Japan released it with the title Stuck Inside of Mobile (Mainstream 003) taken from a verse of a Dylan song. Then came a release called Stones Touring Party Vol.2 (DAC 080) that used the first source, an excellent audience recording but unfortunately in mono but with less hiss than usual. The recording can also be found on American Tour 1972 10 cds and 2 DVDs (WLR 2119) box. The performance is a strong one, the band tight and with known songs arrangements that allow room to solo to both Taylor and Bobby Keys without extensive spots all linked to the compact live rendition of songs from a band that was used to compress many ideas into the 45 rpm format from the sixties: there is nothing mechanical here just a perfect document of the Stones live in 72, most likely the peak of their career. This version represents an improvement combining both sources when required.
