REVIEW: |
According to the label: “Eleven tracks of high quality
rock’n’roll are featured on this LP from The Rolling Stones
previously-undocumented Tour of Europe 1970. This set was recorded for French
radio and features the band playing with a horn section for the first time and
no less than three Chuck Berry covers. Also included are Dead Flowers and Brown
Sugar from the yet-to-be released Sticky Fingers LP. Comes with full sleeve
notes and credits.
The first of
the three Stones Paris shows in 1970 came out on Paris 1970 (IMP 014)- even if
the back cover says 23 September- released in 1993 in 500 copies; then as
Paris Affair (VGP-127) in1997; some songs came out on other boots like Roll
Over Beethoven on Play with fire (TMOQ Smoking Pig 118-003) and on Lord Have
Mercy (Contra Band WEC 3948) and on compact on Paris Olympia 1970 (cdr), Get
Your Leeds Lungs Out (Mighty Diamonds 2004), Sympathy for The Devil can be
found on From The Vault (VGP 100)
while
another full release of this show has been The Return Of Marquis De Sade (Mid
Valley 511) that presented also an opening track by support act Buddy Guy and
Junior Wells featuring Eric Clapton. On January 2014 Pleased To Meet You Bianca,
Hope You Guess My Name (APCD 025) came out itself a remaster by Cpt.Acid of
Paris Affair with some equalizing that tried to give more life to the mono
soundboard; the reason for that title is that it was on this date that Mick was
introduced to Bianca who will become his wife the following year, which was
remastered itself in 32 bits by Tarantura on Europe 1 (TCDRS37). Then Live On
The Radio (Goldplate 1502) presented that recording which was marred by the
voice of the radio commenter who often kept on talking when the songs had begun.
This release is in fact quite good, the sound output is clear with a special
emphasis on the horns which add colour to the overall sound; packaging is nice
too.
