The review

Here is a new recording from Mark Pines' collection. We already had the video he made for the show on October 28, 1981, for the second day in Houston only the audio recording has surfaced.

This is a merge of two recordings: one from a camera filming from the audience (on the left channel) and the other from a camera filming on stage (on the right channel), which is essentially a soundboard.

This new recording is very interesting but unfortunately incomplete as the last six songs are missing. The first tracks, in particular, contained a lot of electronic noises (more audible on the soundboard source). Two versions were offered:

FP 194 having the soundboard alone.

FP 195 which is revirwed here, a new merged version which as usual has been de-clicked and phase adjusted. So we have here a new merged version, using the reworked soundboard version for the right channel and the audience recording for the left channel. In particular on Let It Bleed a drop out has been fixed, on You Can’t Always Get What You Want a microgap compensated in the audience version at 0’32 and in the soundboard version at 0’24 but
some alterations remain in the beginning of the song. Hang Fire is incomplete, due to a cut at 1’14.

This concert has been missing from collectors lists, only on cdr it came out as Houston Can You Sing Again? (Rockin’ Rott) in audience quality, allegedly sporting a full concert. Then E.Valley released the elusive second concert, even if just in part, on a boot called Live in Houston (EVSD 609-10) but it just contained the end of this concert so in theory a complete recording could have been done.
