REVIEW:
This is a not a new release from Captain Acid, but an upgrade of the 2015 version that presents outtakes from the Black and Blue period in 3 volumes. This reworked version is 9 seconds longer but certainly better sounding, all tracks come from known bootlegs (see sources) but some have been replaced using Session tapes from 74-75 (all remastered again): in particular tracks 2,3,4,5,6,9,12 have been remastered. In the previous version in order to have the final cut of some tracks, two different files were used; for example, some songs sounded better but were not complete, so different sources were used to make them complete; this was heard in particular after about 3 minutes into the instrumental take of Memory Motel, however here such difference is not that evident; also, Crazy Mama here is in stereo and particularly good sounding are I Got A Letter and Act Together. The title for this release Smack & Blow has been chosen in consideration of the drugs of choice by the Glimmer Twins at the time, not to forget that it sounds similar to Black And Blue. Contrary to the previous version no hiss in the background on Hot Stuff. Most of the other tracks are great sounding and it is a pleasure to listen to them. Artwork has been created and upgraded with new info by Mr. D.
