REVIEW: |
Despite
what is written in the line notes this is the third version of the tenth volume
of this series and
is a
complementary version to Vol 10 of the series devoted to Ron Wood guesting with
Willie Dixon at Woody’s On The Beach. The very first one was just mono, the next
one
(source #1) was good
but with the right channel damaged so most of the recording ended up in mono
again. However, a recently surfaced video provided a very good new source
(source #2), a soundboard recording it seems. This source is anyway lossy. I'm
Ready was misplaced and only a fragment of it was used for the credits at the
end of the video (around 4 minutes of it are missing); but Wand Dang Doodle is
complete when 26 seconds were missing in the previous version. The video has been
ripped and the tracks edited, some micro-gaps deleted as well as a short
repetition before Spoonful. This new source showed that the previous source had
to be accelerated by +3%. The line up here was:
Ron Wood on guitar), Wille Dixon on vocals, Bobby
Keys on sax, Simon Kirke on drums, Gram Wood Drout on bass, Nick Kane on guitar),
Bob Hemphill on harmonica, piano and organ. This is a very nice release,
certainly the best one so far.
