REVIEW:

This release intent is to present the Stones activities in the most stressful period of the band s career, from 1961 through 1964 featuring unofficial as well as official tracks. It starts with You Can t Judge A Book By The Cover that has few seconds of the Stones version that come from an acetate purchased and broadcasted on a BBC programme by Chris Jagger in 2006, the rest is Bo Diddley s version; after that we get a medley of the Little Boy Blue and the Blue Boys, the first combo that had Jagger and Richards record their attempts on a reel to reel recorder at Dick Taylor s home. From Disc Two on there are more early 60s original singles, when applicable preceded by the snippets of the same song by the Stones. This is an interesting project especially useful for new fans that have no access to rare early 60s original tracks, although is not complete, see the absence of the first Stones stereo broadcast from 19 March 64.

Unfortunately all discs are over 80 minutes in length, so it is recommended to use 90 minutes discs if you want track separation, or you may get some nasty surprise (some tracks blank). Packaging is quite articulate for being a an project, but the songs listed in the booklet are not in the same order on discs, plus if you want to store the 5 discs in a Fatboy case you do not have proper artworks.
