REVIEW:

This ep present s the 6th and final performance of the Stones at the famous Ed Sullivan Show in late 1969 and consist of 3 songs with live vocals on prepared backing tracks; the band shared the bill with Ella Fitzgerald, it must be noted that some pictures from this broadcast show Bill Wyman replaced by Ian Stewart, because they were taken on the day before at the rehearsals which he missed not feeling well. The recordings happened right after the Chicago concert, about a week before the Detroit show when the band had a week off from their US Tour. At the end of Honky Tonk Women there is also a short Jagger interview where he mentions the band heading to the Madison Square Garden, It must be noted that all the Ed Sullivan Shows broadcasts were officially released on November 1st 2011 by SOFA Entertainment in the US in a 2 DVD set that included other acts and commercials, later the episodes were released as 3 and 4 Stones shows, a confusing marketing strategy; however, it is strange that this vinyl ep has been released since usually the label claims its releases to be when the 50th years copyright has ended and no official release has happened, not the case here. Although unreported on the sleeve, the ep runs at 45 rpm, so it may better be called just a single due to the number of songs included; regardless of that here is an historical event covered here, which vinyl collectors will surely appreciate.
