REVIEW: |
Here we
have the Stones first 1982 Frankfurt show, this
concert opened the three shows in the Festhalle venue, the only shows not
performed on the outside, on this tour, let alone the Scottish dates at the
start of the tour: this release presents again a master tape recording,
reworked by Cpt. Acid who specified:
I
was asked to do this tape from LTB. He recorded this show, so this is straight
from his master tape. I did some editing, level correction and new EQ, nothing
else. Mr. D made another great artwork. This concert is certainly the most
known of the three, but at the beginning just three songs appeared on tape. On vinyl
it came out as Yeah Baby Yeah (Stereo Master 8YBY2), All The Girls In Frankfurt
Vol.1, 2 & 3 (MM 13 E/F) and on silver disc with a 2 cd set having the same
name All The Girls In Frankfurt (MM CD A/B), Chantilly Lace is on Devils And
Desert (Godfather Rec. 346/7) and Going To A Go Go can be found on Stop
Breaking Down (RSSBD 1/2). This too is a great recording, taper s location seems
to have been quite central, all instruments can be heard clearly, no echo on
Jagger s vocals. This concert is particular because Chantilly Lace is played,
this song became popular again thanks to the American Graffiti soundtrack that
came out in 1973 and the Stones played it consistently since Aberdeen, providing
a brief showcase for Ian Stewart on piano, but dropped the song from the third
Frankfurt show and never played it again. Yet another great 1982 recording that
complete the Frankfurt 82 trilogy.
